Balloon Care

Taking care of balloons involves proper inflation, handling, and storage to ensure they last as long as possible. Here are some tips for different types of balloons:

Latex Balloons

  1. Inflation:
    • Inflate latex balloons to their recommended size using a pump or helium tank.
    • Avoid over-inflation to prevent bursting.
  2. Handling:
    • Handle gently to prevent punctures or tears.
    • Keep away from sharp objects and rough surfaces.
  3. Storage:
    • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent degradation.
    • Inflate just before the event for maximum float time, as latex balloons typically last 8-12 hours with helium.
  4. Hi-Float Treatment:
    • Use Hi-Float or a similar product to extend the float time of helium-filled latex balloons.

Foil/Mylar Balloons

  1. Inflation:
    • Inflate foil balloons with helium or air until they are firm but not over-inflated to prevent seams from bursting.
  2. Handling:
    • Handle with care to avoid creasing or puncturing the material.
    • Keep away from extreme temperatures which can cause the balloon to expand or contract.
  3. Storage:
    • Store uninflated foil balloons in a cool, dry place.
    • Inflated foil balloons can last several days to weeks, so they can be prepared in advance.

General Tips

  • Temperature:
    • Avoid exposing balloons to extreme temperatures. Cold air can cause balloons to shrink, while heat can cause them to expand and burst.
  • Sunlight:
    • Prolonged exposure to sunlight can degrade the material, causing balloons to fade or burst.
  • Safety:
    • Keep balloons away from small children to prevent choking hazards from deflated or popped balloons.
    • Secure balloons with weights if used outdoors to prevent them from flying away.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your balloons look great and last longer for your event or celebration.
